Condensation forms when warm, moist air inside hits a cold surface, and in a single-glazed window the glass itself is that surface. The moisture runs down onto timber sills, promotes mould, and damages paintwork. In Preston’s interwar bungalows and weatherboards, where original timber frames have been in place for 80 to 100 years, sill rot and mould around window frames are common complaints.

Older timber and aluminium windows in Preston often rely on simple snib locks or latches. Nu-Eco’s UPVC windows use multi-point espagnolette locking as standard, engaging the sash against the frame at multiple points around the perimeter.
